Heavy duty refuse sacks and bin liners
Strong, puncture-resistant refuse sacks for offices, warehouses, shops, kitchens and building sites. Made from recycled polyethylene with a wide gusset so the sack opens out fully inside a standard wheeled bin or sack holder, and welded seams that hold up to sharp, heavy or awkward waste.
We stock three grades: 160 gauge (40 micron) green sacks for general office and household waste, 200 gauge (50 micron) black heavy duty sacks for busier commercial bins, and 280 gauge (70 micron) compactor sacks for waste compactors, chutes and heavy site clearance.
Choosing between gauge and micron
Gauge and micron both describe how thick the film is. Higher numbers mean a stronger, more tear-resistant sack. As a rough guide:
- 160 gauge / 40 micron — paper, packaging waste, light office and kitchen refuse
- 200 gauge / 50 micron — mixed commercial waste, retail and hospitality bins
- 280 gauge / 70 micron — compactors, chutes, builders' waste and wet or heavy loads

What size are standard black bin bags?
Our standard black and green refuse sacks are 18" x 29" x 39", which suits most commercial and domestic wheeled bins and sack holders. Compactor sacks are larger at 20" x 34" x 47".
What is a compactor sack?
A compactor sack is an extra thick refuse sack (280 gauge / 70 micron here) designed to be crushed inside a waste compactor or dropped down a refuse chute without splitting.
Are these bin liners recyclable?
The polyethylene film is recyclable through commercial soft-plastic waste streams, and the sacks themselves are produced using recycled content.
How many bags are in a pack?
Black and green refuse sacks come in packs of 25. Compactor sacks come in packs of 10.
