    Pallet Wrap

Pallet Wrap, Stretch Film & Stretch Wrap — UK Stock, Trade Prices

Packaging Panda supplies heavy-duty pallet wrap, stretch film and pallet wrapping film to warehouses, 3PLs, ecommerce brands and manufacturers across the UK. Every roll is manufactured from multi-layer LDPE with up to 250% stretch, so you use less film per pallet without compromising load containment. Buy a single box of 6 rolls for hand wrapping in the stockroom, or drop straight to a full pallet of 360 rolls for the lowest possible per-roll price. Clear, blue, black, machine and hand stretch wrap all in stock for next-day UK dispatch.

Box of 6 vs Full Pallet — which should I buy?

By the Box (6 rolls): ideal for small to mid-volume sites wrapping a few pallets a week. £7.99 standard UK delivery, free on orders over £150.

By the Pallet (360 rolls): the lowest per-roll cost in our range. Free UK mainland delivery on every pallet — no minimum spend. Perfect for 3PLs, fulfilment centres, manufacturers and high-volume ecommerce.

    Extended Core vs Flush Core

Extended Core rolls have a longer 1.5" core that sticks out at both ends, giving you built-in handles. Perfect for hand pallet wrap without a dispenser — just grip the core and walk around the load.

Flush Core rolls have a standard 2" core that sits flush with the film. These slot into stretch wrap dispensers and pallet wrap machines for faster, more consistent application on busy lines.

Stretch film vs shrink wrap — what's the difference?

The terms are often used interchangeably, but they're not the same product. Stretch film (also called stretch wrap or pallet wrap) is an elastic LDPE film that stretches around a pallet and clings to itself — no heat required. Shrink wrap is a polyolefin film that has to be heated with a gun or tunnel to contract around the load. For 99% of pallet wrapping in UK warehouses you want stretch film, not shrink wrap — it's faster, safer and uses no energy.

How much pallet wrap do I need?

As a rough guide, a standard 1.2m-high Euro pallet wrapped with 17mu hand stretch film uses about 120–180m of film per pallet — roughly 1 roll for every 2 to 3 pallets if you're using a 400m roll. Heavier 20mu and 23mu films cover a similar distance but with more load containment. Higher pre-stretch on machine film can stretch the same 1500m roll across 25–30 pallets.

How to wrap a pallet by hand

    1. Anchor the film to a corner of the pallet base and tuck the loose end under itself.
    2. Wrap the base three times to lock the load to the pallet — this is the most important step for transit stability.
    3. Spiral up the load, overlapping each turn by about 50%. Keep the film taut so it pre-stretches as you walk.
    4. Wrap the top twice, then spiral back down for extra security on heavier or unstable loads.
    5. Tear and tuck the end into the previous wrap — no tape needed.

    Choose your micron (gauge)

We stock a full range of gauges so you can match the film to the load:

    • 12mu — light-duty bundling and short transit
    • 14mu — medium-duty everyday warehouse use
    • 17mu — heavy-duty standard, also available as food-grade and security/tamper-evident
    • 20mu — extra heavy-duty for sharp-edged or unstable pallets
    • 23mu — premium security film for high-value or long-haul shipments

Black, blue and clear pallet wrap — when to use each

    • Clear stretch wrap — read shipping labels and SKUs straight through the film. The default for most UK warehouses.
    • Black pallet wrap — hides the load contents for tamper-evident, high-value or confidential shipments. Popular with electronics, pharma and ecommerce returns.
    • Blue stretch film — colour-code dedicated production lines, QA-hold pallets or specific customer orders. Also commonly used for food-grade pallets.

Machine pallet wrap vs hand stretch wrap

If you're wrapping more than about 15 pallets a day, a semi-automatic pallet wrapping machine with high pre-stretch machine film will pay for itself fast — typically using 30–50% less film per pallet than hand wrap. We supply bespoke machine stretch film in 1500m, 1800m and 2000m rolls to fit most turntable and rotary-arm wrappers. For sites wrapping fewer pallets, or for ad-hoc dispatch, hand stretch wrap with an extended core stays the most cost-effective option.

    Sustainability

All of our pallet wrap is UK manufactured from recyclable LDPE. The high stretch ratio (up to 250%) means fewer rolls per pallet wrapped — cutting both your film spend and your plastic footprint. LDPE stretch film is widely accepted in commercial soft-plastic recycling streams (check with your waste contractor).

    Other uses for stretch wrap

    • Bundling awkward or long items together

    • Quick weatherproofing for site materials
    • Stabilising mixed-SKU pallets for kerbside delivery

    Pallet wrap FAQs

How many rolls are in a pallet of stretch wrap?

A full pallet of Packaging Panda hand stretch wrap contains 360 rolls (60 boxes of 6). It's the lowest per-roll price in our range and ships with free UK mainland delivery, no minimum spend.

    Is pallet wrap recyclable?

Yes — our pallet wrap is made from LDPE (low-density polyethylene), which is widely recyclable through commercial soft-plastic recycling streams. Most UK waste contractors accept clean, baled stretch film. It is not currently accepted in standard kerbside household recycling.

What is pallet wrap made of?

Pallet wrap is a multi-layer LDPE plastic film. The layers are co-extruded to balance stretch, cling and puncture resistance, which is why modern stretch films can elongate up to 250% without tearing.

How should I store pallet wrap?

Store rolls flat or upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. UV exposure and heat degrade the film over time and reduce stretch performance. Keep rolls in their original packaging until use.

    What's the difference between 12mu, 17mu and 23mu film?

Micron (mu) is the film thickness. Lower microns (12–14mu) are best for light bundling and stable loads. 17mu is the everyday warehouse standard. 20–23mu films are heavy-duty for sharp-edged, unstable or high-value pallets where extra puncture resistance and load retention matter.

All roll sizes are nominal and subject to a manufacturing tolerance of +/- 5mm.
