Compostable packaging has come a long way since the brittle, papery first-generation bags of the early 2010s. If you're still running on outdated assumptions, here are the three myths we hear most often — and the reality.

Myth 1: "They fall apart in the rain"

False. Modern compostable mailing bags use moisture-resistant bioplastics that perform identically to standard polythene during normal postal handling — including the British weather. The biological breakdown only triggers in compost conditions (high heat, microbial activity), not in your warehouse or on a doorstep.

Myth 2: "They tear too easily"

Also false. Tear strength on our current compostable range matches grade-A polythene mailers. We've had customers run side-by-side trials and report no measurable difference in damage or burst rates.

Myth 3: "They're a marketing gimmick"

The honest version: some compostable products on the market are. That's why certifications matter. Our compostable range is independently certified to EN 13432 (industrial) or home-compostable standards — not just "biodegradable" (which means very little) or "eco-friendly" (which means even less).
